Arr Place in Newport

It doesn’t look like a restaurant because it is in the bottom of a large home in Nye Beach situated 20 feet lower that street level. The sign that indicates it is open is one written on blackboard stating OKAY. Address is 143 SW Cliff Street, behind the Performing Arts Center.

I have posted about it before and it still remains a favorite. The husband is the chef and the wife the waitress. If you get there when they open at 4:00  you get to carry on conversations with them both. The name is derived from the family’s first names. I think the R is for the daughter, Rebecca, who was there when we arrived. We nearly returned again for Sunday brunch.  We’ll do that soon….

If you want to you can read the board for the specials, but Rebecca will tell you.

Liz and I love the homey atmosphere. She was a bit surpized, however, when I all of a sudden recalled that they do not take plastic (don't use it; don't take it).

Liz had the salmon.

Liz had the salmon special : hot and sweet noodles, snow peas, corn and lemon ginger scallion butter.

Once again, I ordered the seafood lasagna.

We shared the turtle sundae. They make their own ice cream. Not made this time with goose eggs, but hen's.
