Couples Gourmet Group

Robert and I are now new members of a couples gourmet group. This is the only on-going couples activity we have done in Portland. It is about time the poor guy got included in some of my fun!

I wasn’t Johnny on the spot with my camera so have no pictures of our host and hostess, Kurt and Eleanor, nor anyone’s face for that matter (except Robert’s).

I helped Peggy assemble her pretty salad - Beet, Rhubarb, and Orange Salad. Bet you never had a salad with rhubarb in it before....

Click HERE for the salad recipe.

The table was set with great care. I could see that I would need to make place cards when they come to our place.

Susan cooked Asparagus with Toasted Hazelnut-Lemon Butter.

Just in the living and dining room alone where plenty of pictures on the walls for me to admire. I particularly liked this cruise ship. I'd show others but they had too much glare off the glass.

Kurt grilled the Lamb Kebabs with Aleppo Chile and Pomegranate Molasses, while the Toasted Bulgur Pilaf heated in the oven.

I neglected to photograph the appetizers that were served in the lovely backyard patio area.

The men gathered around the grill to give Kurt advice.

I was particularly attracted to Charlie's Tommy Bahama shirt given to him by his son.

I made the dessert. A creme brulee put into a fresh pineapple slice.

Here are some pictures of my test batch. Trust me, too much trouble. Don't attempt it. I made the brulee in a 7x11 dish and used the same size cookie cutter for the pineapple hole and brulee to place into the pineapple. Then used a torch for the turbinado sugar. I used the Cooks Illustrated recipe.
