Thrilled With Book Jacket Addition

For some time I have lusted after the web sites that have book jackets and book lists going down the sides of their entries. You could spend DAYS looking at such sites. I have. Here are a few: http://fondnessforreading.blogspot.com

I have loved books, old and new, for a long time.
It may have started when attending Roosevelt Elementary School in Corvallis I was selected (or did I volunteer?) to work in the library. We shelved books, helped kids check them out and repaired the bindings with thick colored tape similar to tuct tape. Much later, I worked at the OSU library when a student there.
I never was much of a reader, due to not learning how to read well when young. I either had dyslexia or the teachers taught with only one method and it wasn’t what I needed. Somehow I did eventually learn how. Because of all the negative fallout from that issue, I taught my own children how to read before they even started school.
Now my hobby is checking books out from the library. On occasion I actually read one! I always read books selected by my book group, and have non-fiction books around. In addition, I have kept reading lists produced by libraries, magazines, friends, etc. for decades.
Lucky me, I have my own I.T. guy who I just call up and ask for help on my blog. I tried on my own to figure out how to get those book jackets on my blog, but got to the point where I figured I’d totally ruin my fragile setup. So, I told my I.T. Scott, that I joined Library Thing and that some how it would work for putting pictures of books on my blog. There is probably an easier way, but this is what I have. Library Thing is for frustrated librarians who are voracious readers. I lack the voraciousness, but am thrilled to have the books I am currently reading, or planning to read, there for you to see.
So, what do you think?

Looks good mom, but I would go into the settings of the LibraryThing and change some settings to see what looks better. Try making the book sizes smaller and no text… it will still link to amazon.com

Cool stuff! I found a widget for music too, if you like.

I want to read the memory keepers daughter. I started a small book club that has now turned in to 13 people. I’ve never done anything like this but so far it is good. We started off with Velvet Elvis, but I hope we pick the memory keepers daughter next. I’m doing it as a blog, its protected right now because some of my friends aren’t comfortable sharing on the web for the whole world to read.
    Love the book jacket addition!!

    Hi Julie,
Thanks for mentioning my blog in your post, and for your visits to read my posts, old and new. I so enjoy reading your blog, and hearing about your family, looking at your photos of good friends and good food. And now it’s fun to be able to see what you are reading!
    Best wishes,
    Robin

    Hi, Julie -

I like your new site. Inspiring posts. Your writing reflects your exuberant self. I haven’t quite mastered adding captions on some of my photos. Any suggestions? Keep those posts coming.
