Orders Came Today

I just learned that my daughter-in-law, who is a Lieutenant Commander with the US Coast Guard, received her orders today for her next assignment. The family will be moving to the DC area where she will be at Coast Guard Headquarters with the USCG Division of Aviation Safety. It is like the FAA. Now she is finishing up her Masters Degree at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ and will be moving in three or four months. Previously, she flew helicopters out of Sitka USCG station.
They weren’t sure where she would be sent until today. I was hoping for Alameda, CA so I could be closer, but DC is a great place to be, too. When I was first married we lived in Alexandria, Virginia.
I will be babysitting in March while they house hunt….

Cross country air fares are generally lower then shorter ones. That’s the good news!

We are a little sad not to be closer but DC will be interesting – so much history! Thank you for helping us out so we can house hunt!

I lived in Alexandria for year when I was in the 7th grade. Don and I visited the DC area many times during the three years we lived in Norfolk, VA. It will be a great place to go for a visit.
