What Can They Discover Today?

Robert was in Alexandria, Virginia a few weeks ago stopping by for a few days after a meeting in Boston. He got to go on fun outings with the kids, eat out, explore Old Town Alexandria, and go to George Washington’s old church. Here they are at a park across the street from the kid’s YMCA.

With butterfly net at the ready, off Max and Madison go in search of nature's delights.

Max looks up to Grandpa. His first black eye is getting better. Rough-housing with sister did it, I think.

Scott takes the kids to this spot often.

Max shows Grandpa where they are on the map.

Looking hard to find a frog.

There it is!!

Corgi Walk

August 21, was the Third Annual Corgi Walk in the Pearl benefiting the Dove Lewis Animal Hospital and Corgi Rescue. They are such cute animal – head AND tail:

They all assembled (or tired to) in the North Park Blocks near Urban Fauna, the pet store and doggie daycare. There were well over 100 dogs in the walk. Maybe I can figure out how to put up a video I took.

Most corgis were this faun color, but there were other colors and types.

This little guy nearly got me convienced I should have another dog.

This dog was more than a pet to this woman and her husband, it was easy to tell. Here they are poising for pictures.

They had a spot for water and bathroom breaks during the walk.

Their little legs get tired and need a rest.

Black, white and tan for this corgi.

Rufus - the dog of the art teacher, Leeanne, at Hosford Middle School.

Ciao Vito

Dinner at Ciao Vito on Alberta Street in Portland with Don and Liz:

Liz and Bob

Me and Don

"Crispy polenta with your kitchen garden spinach/pine nuts/breadcrumbs and reggiano parmigiano" we shared two first courses.

"Roasted beets and Black splendor plum salad/ warm baked goat cheese with pine nuts and herbs/ thyme oil/vermouth vinegar/ spiced hazelnuts from Steenson Farms"

Did Robert get clams AGAIN?

They said it would be huge, but Liz ordered it anyway (she did take half home). Grilled 15 oz. Carlton Farms pork chop/ fresh sweet corn and whole grain polenta/ pancetta/ torpedo onion and corn salsa/ pork jus

Polenta con sugo piccante di maiale e peperoni (This is the house specialty) Tails and trotters pork/ spicy peppers/ tomato/ porcini mushrooms/ crispy polenta/ breadcrumbs/ parmigiano. Don and I each ordered this. Can't say I would recommend it, however.

All four of us shared this large berry crisp.
